About us
Skye Auto Spares is a family affair with both Julian and Christine working in the business.
Julian has been involved the motor trade since 1973, working in a Citroen workshop as a Saturday lad, whilst still at school where he was studying Physics of the Automobile, covering all aspects of motor vehicles from what makes engines work (and stop working) through to body work repairs and anti-corrosion experiments. He has also completed courses in MIG welding and car body panel leading/repairing and re-manufacturing.
In the early 1980's he worked in the motorcycle industry selling new Hondas and Kawasakis and was also an area motorcycle parts manager selling parts to the motorcycle trade. It was in the 1980's that he also had a go at racing a Yamaha TZ250 at famous circuits such as Brands Hatch and Silverstone, but he admits he never got near the podium! He has had a lifelong love affair with motorcycles having owned more than 70 motorbikes so far starting off on a Suzuki GT185 and working up to Honda 1100 Goldwings (4 of them) and a 1500 Goldwing.
In the late 1980's he moved into the motor trade where he was employed by NISSAN UK as a Sales and Marketing Manager with responsibility for dealers in the North of England and Scotland.
Before moving to Skye in 2005 he was employed by Volkswagen Group UK, based in Milton Keynes, where he was Head of Re-marketing of Used Cars for the SEAT brand. During this time he won many prestigious awards such as "What Car" Magazine "Manufacturers Dealer Approved Used Car Programme" in 2001 and a similar award in the "Used Car Buyer" Magazine in 2002. In the same year he also won top honours in the Automotive Management Awards held in Birmingham's NEC for the industry's best used car programme, beating all other UK motor franchises from Audi to Volvo!
So if you ask for advice you can be sure you'll get the best from his broad knowledge of the business
